Work we did in class 9/24/09 Real World

“Immigration and Emigration”

Summary: Immigration has been crucial to the United States. The United States has recently experienced another great wave of immigration, since the 1920s. An estimated 11.9 million illegal immigrants have been living here by 2008. Immigration has become the most non-stop issue on the political agenda. If we stop immigrants form migrating to the United States our population of Aides will decrease tremendously.

Summary: The United Nations Population Fund says the number of people in the world has doubled since 1960. Global Fertility Rate has declined faster than excepted and global life expectancy has grown from 46 years in 1950 to 66 today. In 61 countries containing about 44% of world numbers, couples are having fewer than the two children needed to keep the population stable. In 1969, world population was growing at 2.4% a year. Today the rate is 1.3%. But most of the growth is in south and west Asia and in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Summary: At this time Europe cannot remain as we know it today because of low fertility rate. France=1.8, England=1.6, Germany=1.3, Greece=1.3, Italy=1.2, Spain=1.1. The Fertility rate for all 31 countries of Europe stands on average1.3. In the last 30 years the Muslim population has increased from 82,000 to 2.5 million. By 2020 Germany will be a Muslim state.
